Onsite Proxy

Secure remote IP phone connectivity without VPN or firewall changes.

What is
Onsite Proxy?

Seamless remote office connectivity is now easier than ever on the Yeastar P-Series Phone System. The Onsite Proxy capability resolves the common trade-off between security and audio performance. It functions as an onsite SBC, establishing a dedicated encrypted tunnel for remote IP phones. This allows devices to connect and communicate with the PBX without requiring VPNs or inbound firewall configuration, while securely proxying SIP signaling and VoIP traffic between remote sites and the central system. For multi-site deployments, Yeastar Onsite Proxy supports large-scale device connectivity and can be centrally monitored across multiple PBXs via management portal, including proxy status and device count visibility.

Beyond the Onsite Proxy solution, Yeastar also provides versatile remote connectivity options to suit different business needs. This includes the Remote Access Service for seamless Linkus UC Client access and PBX web management, as well as the Remote SIP Service designed for secure third-party remote SIP registration. Whether through a localized proxy or cloud-based encryption tunnels, the P-Series ensures your team stays connected securely from anywhere.

How Does Onsite Proxy Work?

PBX Side: Secure & Simplified Connectivity

The Onsite Proxy connects remote branches to the central PBX through two coordinated components:

Remote Site (Onsite Proxy Agent): A lightweight software agent deployed within the remote branch’s local network. It initiates an outbound, encrypted connection to the PBX to establish a secure tunnel. This allows IP phones to connect without manual network configuration, supporting Plug-and-Play (PnP) discovery, Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP), and SIP registration.

PBX Side (Onsite Proxy Server): The PBX functions as the server-side hub, accepting and managing these incoming encrypted tunnels. Administrators can create, manage, and monitor proxy instances through a centralized interface, enabling consistent management of both remote and local extensions.

Centralized Monitoring & Management

For service providers or IT managers, Yeastar Central Management (YCM) provides centralized monitoring for onsite proxies across multiple PBX instances. It offers visibility into connection status and operational data, allowing users to quickly identify offline or abnormal instances. This batch monitoring capability significantly improves management efficiency for large-scale or multi-site deployments.

The Benefits of Onsite Proxy

No Inbound Firewall Configuration Required: Remote sites connect to the PBX using outbound encrypted tunnels, eliminating the need for inbound port forwarding. This helps maintain existing firewall policies without exposing additional ports.

Zero-Touch Provisioning for Remote Phones: Onsite Proxy enables automatic device discovery within the remote network and forwards provisioning requests to the PBX, allowing IP phones to be deployed without manual configuration.

Optimized Audio Quality: By establishing a direct encrypted tunnel between remote sites and the PBX, Onsite Proxy reduces the impact of NAT traversal and indirect routing, helping maintain stable and consistent call quality.

Scalable and Centralized Management: YCM empowers administrators to oversee multiple Onsite Proxy instances through a single pane of glass. By providing granular visibility into connection status and device performance, it transforms the complexity of multi-PBX maintenance into a streamlined, scalable process.

Common FAQ

Do I need a VPN to use Yeastar Onsite Proxy?

.

No. Onsite Proxy is a high-performance alternative to VPNs, automatically establishing its own secure, encrypted tunnel between the remote network and the PBX.

How is Onsite Proxy different from VPN solutions?

.

Unlike VPNs, Onsite Proxy does not require complex network configuration or full network tunneling. It is purpose-built for IP phone connectivity, offering a simpler deployment and easier management experience.

Does Onsite Proxy affect call quality or latency?

.

Onsite Proxy is designed to provide a more direct and stable connection between remote phones and the PBX, helping maintain consistent call quality compared to traditional methods.

Can I monitor multiple Onsite Proxies across different PBXs?

.

Yes. Through Yeastar Central Management (YCM), you can view and manage all Onsite Proxy instances across multiple PBXs from a centralized dashboard.
